Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out which types of the correlative conjunction that the students used in their conversations which were instructed by the researcher. This research was included as descriptive qualitative research. There were no population and sample. Therefore, this research had participants as the research subject. The participants who were the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang were chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The participants were asked to act out a conversation so that the conversation could be recorded and analyzed deeper. To analyze the data, the data were being categorized and then were displayed in the research according to each type of the correlative conjunction. This research showed that both…and… was used 17 times, either…or… was used 16 times, neither…nor… was used 8 times, ans not only…but also… was used 8 times. It can be concluded that both…and… was the correlative conjunction which was used the most by the participants. Keywords: Conversation, Correlative Conjunctions.
