Abstract

The objective of this study was to know whether the students made errors or not, and to explain the mostly the students made errors in translation song lyric of their written test. The kinds of errors in this study was divided into five categories; inversion, addition, omission, modification, and deviation. In this study, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method to describe students’ errors. The data which was taken from the written test focused on translation song lyric. The subject of this study is the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang, Academic Year 2017/2018. The researcher took one class that consisted of 31 students. The findings showed errors that there were 218 errors made by students. The researcher found the students made errors of inversion (4 errors), errors of addition (14 errors), errors of omission (50 errors), errors of modification (20 errors) and errors of deviation (119 errors). The conclusion of this study were the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang still made all of kinds of errors in translation song lyric; inversion, addition, omission, modification, and deviation. The mostly errors that students made was the errors of deviation (119 errors). Then it was followed by the errors of omission (55 errors), and the next was the errors modification (20 errors) the next was errors of addition (14 errors). The last was the errors of inversion (4 errors).
