Abstract

This research was carried out to describe the kind of errors on the use of simple present tense in writing daily activity text made by the first grade students of SMPN 7 Tanjungpinag. The purpose of this research to know the kinds of error on simple present tense in writing daily activity made by the students of SMPN 7 Tanjungpinang. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMPN 7 Tanjungpinang in the academic year of 2017/2018 which consisted of 10 classes. The total number of 7 classes was 403 students, which 38 students in 7.1 were choseen as the sample in this research. The researcher took purposive sampling was used to collect the data. The instrument that was used in this research is a written test. The result of this research found that there were 4 kinds of errors. Namely, omission, addition, selection, and misordering, there were 14 students made the error of omission, 31 students the made error of selection, 28 students the made error of addition, 16 students the made error of misordering, show that percentage in the omission of preposition 13%, article 18%, conjuction 2 %. Percentage in the selection of pronoun 2 %, noun 75%, verb 7%, adverb 2%, adjective 7%, auxiliary 2%, preposition 13%. Percentage in addition of to be 55%, preposition 15%, auxiliary 5%, noun 5%, verb 2%, conjuction 2%, article 2%, pronoun 2%. Pecentage in the misordering of preposition 18%, verb 2%, to be 5%, auxiliary 2%. Based on the statement above the researcher conclude that the most kind of errors did by the first-grade students of SMPN 7 Tanjungpinag there are omission of article, selection of noun, of to be, and misordering of preposition.
