Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out an analysis of the personal reference in narrative text written by students of SMPN 6 Tanjungpinang. The method that is used is qualitative method which the data served by writing test. Research subject as participant 81 class the number of participants is one class consists of 30 students. The instrument that the researcher used to gather the information about personal reference was writing test. To make them clear about what they are asked to do, the researcher asked the students to make narrative text about “Fable”. The writing test was used to know the students’ personal reference in writing narrative text, written by students. The test took 45 minutes. The used of personal references on the results of the students' writings assessed with the used of appropriate sentences, if not appropriate, it cannot be assessed. Personal reference is divided into three parts, that is personal pronouns, possessive determiners and possessive pronouns. Researcher analyzed the percentage results one by one on students and overall from personal pronouns, possessive determiners and possessive pronouns. The following the assessment rubric, excelent (>88%), good (74% - 87%), low (60% - 73%), poor (<60%). The total of writing test in narative text to analyzed personal references were analyzed by statistic relative frequency. From this research, it can be seen that the percentage result of personal pronouns 66,67%, possessive determiners 35,83%, possessive pronouns 5,00%. In personal pronouns 10 students got low predicate and 20 students got poor predicate, in possessive determiners and possessive pronouns all of students got poor predicate. It can be concluded that analyzed personal reference in narative text written by students of SMPN 6 Tanjungpinang is poor. Keywords: Personal Reference, Narrative Text and Writing
