Abstract

The purposes of this research were to analyze construct validity of English final test items with compared into the construction of the problem with construction preparation of test items. Construct validity deal with construct and underlying theory of the language learning and testing. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method. Subject of this research was the English teacher at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 3 Tanjungpinang and object of this research was the English final test items. The researcher used the test item paper and the key. The researcher analyzed which suitable and unsuitable test items to the into the construction of the problem with construction preparation of test items from Basuki’s theory. Then, after got the result, the researcher described the construct validity form by using Arikunto’s theory. The result of this research showed that the English final test at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 3 Tanjungpinang in academic year of 2018/2019 was 100%. Based on the level of category by Arikunto, the percentage of 81%-100% means that the category is very good. Therefore, it can be concluded that the English Final Test at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 3 Tanjungpinang in academic year of 2018/2019 has a very good construct validity
