Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of think-talk-write on students' writing skills in recount text lessons at SMP N 4 Tanjungpinang. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method which is where the data presented in this study is numerical or numerical and tested using the t-test formula. The type of quantitative research design in this study is a quasi-experimental design involving 35 students in class VIII8 as an experimental class taught through think-write-write strategies and 35 students in class VIII1 as a control class taught through expository strategies. The sampling technique used in this study is the purposive technique. The researcher gave the pretest before the learning activities after the teaching and learning activities were completed, the researcher gave the posttest to find out the skill level of the students in writing recount texts. From this study, it can be seen that the average score of the experiment class is 82.05 and the control class is 64.68. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the think-talk-write strategy on student writing skills in SMP N 4 Tanjungpinang
