Abstract

ABSTRAK This research aims to find out any significant effect in average scores using constructivist approach toward students’ reading comprehension in reading procedure text at tenth grade of SMA N 1 Teluk Bintan. The researcher used quantitative research method when doing the research. This research was conducted from December to January 2019. This research was classified as a Trueexperimental study. It was putting 48 students from two groups, Class X IIS 2 (24 students) as the experimental group and Class X IIS 1 (24 students) as the control group. The experimental group was the students taught by using Constructivist approach whereas the control group was students taught by using conventional technique. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was given to both groups before the treatment and the post-test was given after the treatment. In this research, the data of the pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed by using descriptive statistics analysis. After the data are tested and found to be homogeneous and normal, the hypothesis was tested by using T-test .The result of the research showed that the difference on the Reading ability of the students taught using Constructivist approach and those were not taught using constructivist was significance because of the value of T-observation was greater than T-table in significance 0.05 > > =3.16 > 2.021 Keyword : Reading, comprehension, constructivist approach
