Abstract

Baskara, Pungky Desvin. 2018. The Effectiveness of The Beatles’ Songs in Video Clips in Vocabulary Mastery (An Experimental Research at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang in the Academic Year of 2017/2018). Basically, vocabulary is all the words known and used by a particular person. The vocabulary can make students convey their idea both in oral and written form effectively. This research’s purpose was to found out how the use of video clips (audio visual medium) can be more effective than using the songs (audio medium) to teach vocabulary to the eleventh grade students’ science major of SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang. The research method used on this research was experimental research with the total of 168 students as the population. To get the data for this research, the researcher used pre-test and post-test as the research instruments. The findings of this research showed that the mean score of the post-test in experimental class is 92,35 while the mean score of the post-test in control class is 85,50. The hypothesis test showed that tcount is 3,84 and ttable is 1,989. From the comparison of the tcount and the ttable, researcher found out that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, there was significance effectiveness between students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery which is taught by using video clips of The Beatles’ songs and by using The Beatles’ songs with tape recorder only
